Changing the Subject

To my delight the last day or so there have been several comments about my garden.

I'm planning on writing about today's interactions with my family and faith later this afternoon or evening, but I thought I'd indulge myself with a change of subject for a moment and post some photos of my garden.

Bush beans, sunflowers, cantelope, corn

Artichokes

Yellow Neck Squash

Tomatoes

Strawberries

Again, the way you tenderly nurture and grow your garden is indicative of how you do with your boys...good job mr. will!!!

Now THAT is a garden.....My dad's garden almost took up the entire back yard. He absolutely loved gardening. When he got really sick, the last 18 months of his life, it nearly killed him that he coulnd't garden any more. Any amount of heat would bother him and with living in Houston, he got a lot of heat.

There is a kind of joy in growing your own food. We have so many trees in our back yard that we only have a small spot where we can garden. This year we had 12 tomato plants growing. Nothing like home grown tomatoes....

Keep that garden growing.

OMG, what a beautiful, bountiful garden! You are blessed. We are clearing our lot next door, planning to plant a garden, but I am trying to think of how to irrigate it, and how to keep pests and animals from eating it. (we have a plethora of rabbits.)

Gee, Will, when I wanted you to focus on something constructive, like your garden, I didn't know you were going to be such a show-off, and make me feel like loser-gardener of the year!!!

Just kidding, of course. The pictures of your garden are fabulous, and I do feel like I need to just go and till up the mess I have and start over. It is so hot here in Southeast TX, with so little rain. It is hard for a working family to keep up with things.

I hope that garden made you smile today!!!

It did.

I am really fortunate to have some great soil here.

The whole north end of town has this rich sandy soil (the south side is clay and rocks!).

The soil is so good that there is a large contingent of folks in this town who vote down any annexation of the farm land north of town because we see it as a valuable resource as it is and do not wish to see it sprout a crop of houses.

Oh yes... not pictured are:

Spinach, lettuce, mint, sage, marjoram, broccoli, cucumbers, string beans, marion berries, celantro, and carrots.

Also... I can't help smiling that for his garden, Marvin the Martian has a rabbit problem!

I like the conversations above. Light and "tasty".
Keep it up, Will.

LOL. Bugs Bunny! Thanks for drawing my attention to the connection:-)

I've always heard gardening is doing the Lord's work, so no surprise you have such a fruitful crop. Nice work.
